As of right now I am loving my life. The stress that was on my shoulders is GONE. I actually wake up and feel like I have a plan and want to get out of bed. I am so happy right now. So what is going on with my life? Well I still haven’t decided my career path. I have taken up blogging on HubPages and have tried to focus my writing on fashion. The more I write the more I am really enjoying it. I also feel like the more I write the better I become at it. Along with writing for Hubpages, I have also created a Facebook page Fashion By Alicia. On the page, I post my fashion blogs, fashion discounts, and fashion giveaways that I find through other blogs I follow.
I am trying to expand my followers and hope that once I get comfortable writing about fashion I can really start the process of setting up my business. I am likely going to get my real estate license and hopefully work part time. The other part of my time will be working in the fashion industry. I am going to open my Image Consulting Business eventually and then get my image consulting certificate. Hopefully I can do this sometime this summer.
Well that’s my life in a nutshell right now. I am enjoying life and loving fashion. If you have any fashion questions email me at fashionbyalicia@yahoo.com

Fashion Items for Sale
Spring cleaning time! Today I did some major spring cleaning. I went through my closet and finally decided to get rid of items that I haven't used in a year or ever used. I am giving most of the items to goodwill, but there are a few items that are really nice and I thought why not sell them! I have items from Cole Haan, Michael Kors, and Anne Klein. If interested post a comment.
Item 1. Cole Haan Buckle Pump Shoes Size 10. I have never wore these shoes. I picked them up and thought they would be perfect but they have 3 inch heels and I decided the heals were too high for me. I can't remember what I paid for these heals but I am asking $100 or your best offer!
Item 2. Cole Haan NIKE Air Sierra Ballet Size 9.5. This was the first pair of Cole Haan shoes that I ever bought. I fell in love with Cole Haan the first time I tried these on. The Nike Air soles are wonderful. Sadly the store only had a 9.5 and I am generally a 10, but I loved the shoes and bought them anyway but since they were really too small I didin't really wear them often. I am asking $70 for these or best offer.
Item 3. Cole Haan NIKE Air ballet flats patent leather with buckle size 10. These shoes have been wore pretty often. They are still in good shape. I am asking $50 because I have seen the same shoes on ebay and amazon for more.
Item 4. Cole Haan Nike Air Black Loafers size 10. These shoes also have Nike Air soles. They were wore a lot so I am only asking $30.
Item 5. Michael Kors Brown Leather Pumps Size 10. I have never wore these pumps. They also have high heals (probably 3 inches) they are brown trimmed in suede. They are really cute. I am asking $45.
Item 6. Anne Klein Ivory trimmed black pumps Size 10. These are open toed ivory pumps with black trim and bows. They have been worn one time. I am asking $25 or best offer.
SOLD: Item 7. Pink Coach Purse with dust bag. The coach bag is smaller and converts from handbag to wristlet its approximately 8 x 5 x 2 in with a 6.5 inch drop. I carried the purse at most 6 times. It is in really good shape. I am asking $55 or best offer.
SOLD: Item 8. Michael Kors Ashbury Satchel Chocolate. This purse has double straps and is trimmed in bronze. This bag also has one zip pocket, cell phone pocket, and one multi-purpose pocket. I carried this purse a great deal but finally upgraded to a brown Gucci bag, lol. I am asking $90 for this bag. This bag is priced new for $169.
Item 9. Cole Haan ballet suede moccasin flats blue size 10. I have a problem. I always buy moccasins and I always buy suede. I live in Florida. Suede is never a good thing because it could rain any time! I know I could weather proof my shoes but I didn't. So I have only wore these shoes 2 times. I am asking $50.
All of the shoes have dust bags to go along with them. I hope you enjoy the items! If you like anything just comment and let me know!

Update
I know my blog is to be dedicated to my career path so I thought I should update about my career. Well my career is still on a stand still. I still like the idea of opening my own Image Consulting business, but I have had some people warn me about opening my own business without having some sort of fashion background or something on my resume that shows a fashion background. So I have been looking online for fashion type jobs with limited experience. There are definitely not a lot of jobs that want someone with very little experience. I have found a few retail jobs but its more of a sales associate sort of job and that isn’t really what I am looking for, although I may consider working at Cole Haan or Ann Taylor Loft just for the discounts. I have found a few personal shopping jobs that are looking for someone with very little to no experience sadly they are not in Jacksonville. So I am going to keep looking.
To make me feel like I am productive, I think I am going to get my real estate license and then see if I can get some sort of part time real estate job and then possibly open my Image Consulting business. However if a wardrobe, image, fashion consulting job opens up in Jacksonville I will definitely be applying. While I am doing real estate work I may also try to get my image consulting license from Association of Image Consultants International so that I have something on my resume. But who knows?
I am seriously having a quarter life crisis or something! While I am deciding what the heck I am going to do, I am going to continue to blog. I have this blog about my career path and miscellaneous stuff. But I have also started another blog dedicated to celebrity gossip at http://hubpages.com/hub/Celebrity-101 and one for fashion at http://hubpages.com/hub/Style-Chic. I am hoping these can help keep me occupied while I figure things out and earn a little money on the side. Feel free to follow these blogs and let me know what you think!

March Madness
Its that time of year again, March Madness. It is one of my favorite times of the year. I love selection Sunday; I love seeing the teams being elected and watching the bubble teams anticipating on whether or not they are going to get in. This is my take on the teams with a little twist on personal stories. If you are a girl who wants to impress her boyfriend or husband you definitely learn from my blog. Or if you are a guy who really doesn’t know about basketball but wants to do well in your brackets or impress your buddies read on. I am going to talk about the top 5 seeds from each division, upsets, injury issues, and teams that got their bubble’s burst.
Number One Seeds:
Ohio State: The number one seat overall has the inside and outside presence. Jared Sullinger is an outstanding big man he is averaging over 17 points again and has a love for Miley’s Party in the USA. He and his fellow teammates did a rendition of the song and has become a youtube sensation. If you want to check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6du8UQZJAhI I recommend that you wear earplugs because the singing is that horrendous. Ohio State also has a really good shooting guard with Jon Diebler. I am not sure how far the team will go in the tournament because the Big 10 has not been amazing, but they are an impressive team.
Kansas: Oh the Beakers, how I loath you. Like Ohio State they have a huge inside presence. The Morris Twins are ridiculous they are like Sullinger but there are two of them. How do you stop that? A few teams have been able to throughout the season, but it’s definitely a difficult task. This year has been a difficult year for the Beakers especially Thomas Robinson. Robinson lost both grandparents and then his mother in a two week time period. Then Robinson underwent knee surgery and has been playing better as the season progresses. I do feel sorry for this kid, but do not feel sorry for the Beakers. This season Bill Self suspended (allegedly indefinitely) Tyshawn Taylor for a violation of team rules. Taylor returned a few games later to play. What happened to indefinitely? I think if you are going to suspend a player they should be suspended. Enough said.
Pittsburgh: One of eleven teams in the tournament from the Big East. Pitt won the Big East season outright finishing 15-3 in conference and 27-5 overall. Pitt has a really good team. Ashton Gibbs is outstanding from the 3-point line and the team is great at defense. But Pitt has a flaw they never do well in the NCAA tournament. They always lose early. Will this be the year that Jamie Dixon’s team breaks that cycle? I would like to say yes, but my head says no. Pitt will make it to the sweet sixteen but probably will crack under the pressure.
Duke: If you know me well you know that I am a huge Duke fan. I have been a fan of Duke for a while now but I am also a realistic Duke fan (sometimes). This years Duke team doesn’t remind me of last years National Champion Duke team. Toes have plagued Duke this year, Kyrie Irving has been out since December due to a toe injury. My heart was breaking when I saw Nolan Smith go down with a toe injury during the ACC Tournament. Luckily, Smith is okay and helped Duke win the ACC tournament. Iriving has been warming up, could he play in the tournament? I sure hope so. If he does everyone better watch out!
Number Two Seeds:
Notre Dame: Is a team full of seniors. They are led by Ben Hansborough (Big East player of the year) and like to slow you down. Notre Dame is a team I think could go far in the tournament because of their seniority but most analyst think they won’t end up in the final four.
North Carolina: UNC is another team I loath. They have definitely progressed as the season went on. The team has a strong big man presence with Tyler Zeller and some really strong freshman with Harrison Barnes and Kendall Marshall. At the end of the regular season I would have said the team would have went far, but they didn’t look good during the ACC tournament. They were down by 19 against Miami and won, they were down by 14 by Clemson and won, and then they got down against Duke and couldn’t come back. If they get down in the tournament like that they may not be able to make a come back.
San Diego State: Has a fabulous record. They are 32-2 and won the Mountain West Tournament. I am honestly not sure how good they are. They seem like a pretty good team, but they didn’t play a lot of big teams during their non-conference schedule. They beat Gonzaga, St. Mary’s and Wichita State. During their conference they lost twice to BYU, but beat them in the Mountain West tournament. On a different note, their coach is Steve Fisher who coached the University of Michigan’s Fab 5, but was forced to leave Michigan after a NCAA probe. Fisher was never found guilty by the NCAA and eventually was hired by San Diego State. He has turned the program around at the school, which is pretty remarkable.
Florida: Yes I live in North Florida but no I don’t love the Florida Gators. The Gators are similar to Pitt with a very senior team. They have a very balanced team, but lost badly to Kentucky in the SEC Championship.
Number Three Seeds:
BYU: If you haven’t heard of Jimmer Fredette then you definitely haven’t paid attention to college basketball this year. Jimmer or Jimmy Jim as I called him led the NCAA in scoring this year averaging 28.5 points a game. He also scored 52 points in the Mountain West tournament. Jimmer is a fabulous player, unfortunately I don’t know if his team is fabulous. A few weeks ago BYU suspended their big man Brandon Davies for violations of BYU’s honor code. Davies was suspended for having premarital sex with his girlfriend. BYU’s honor code required all students to refrain from: “Be honest, live a chaste and virtuous life, obey the law and all campus policies, use clean language, respect others, abstain from alcoholic beverages, tobacco, tea, coffee, and substance abuse, participate regularly in church services, observe the dress and grooming Standards.” I am not sure I agree with his honor code, but BYU is a private university and can set whatever standards they want. I do commend BYU for continuing to suspend Davies after he violated school policies and has no plans for allowing him back on the team (maybe Kansas should follow these rules?).
Syracuse: The ‘Cuse is another good team. They play the dreaded zone. Their zone is one of the toughest in the country. I don’t have a lot to say about Syracuse other than does their coach, Jim Boeheim ever smile? I have watched a lot of basketball in my life and I have never seen the man crack a smile. He won a national championship with Carmelo Anthony and I still don’t remember him smiling.
Purdue: Purdue is a team I didn’t think would be very good this year. In the fall, Robbie Hummell injured his ACL and was out for their entire season. I didn’t think that this team would be able to overcome his injury but shockingly they have had a really good season. Senior JaJuan Johnson scores twenty points a game and was the Big Ten player of the year. I like the Purdue team mainly because I think they are a bunch of really good guys. But being good guys doesn’t mean you are going to go far in the tourney. Purdue has lost their last two games with a loss on the road to Iowa (who is terrible) and a loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten tournament. I am not sure if they will be able to get out of their players funk.
Connecticut: UCONN won the Big East tournament by playing 5 games in 5 days. UCONN looked amazing in the tournament. Kemba Walker scored over 20 points in each of those games. UCONN is a young team, but their freshman players Jeremy Lamb, Shabazz Napier, and Roscoe Smith really developed during the Big East tournament. I think this is a team that could really make a run in the tournament.
Number Four Seeds:
Kentucky: Should give up now because let’s be honest they are going to get in trouble with John Calipari and have to vacate their season. But anyway, Kentucky is a really young team. Kentucky is the SEC champions, but they were not good on the road. Saying they were not good is an understatement. UK didn’t win a road game this season so I have a feeling they aren’t going to go far.
Louisville: Louisville played in the Big East tournament against UCONN and looked pretty impressive. With a coach like Rick Pitino I think Louisville could go far in the tournament. Pitino had a rough year with the extortion scandal last year, but he seems to be pulling ahead and doing a good job. I personally hope he wears his white suite at least one time during the tournament.
Texas: Texas I think got a snub as a four seat, but haven’t been playing well down the stretch. Texas beat the Beakers at home, which is a huge feat. Texas is led by Jordan Hamilton who scores eighteen points a game. I have a feeling Texas will struggle in the tournament like they have done in the past and will have trouble against Oakland.
Wisconsin: Wisconsin plays that slow slow slow Big Ten basketball. It is SOOOO boring. Wisconsin only scored 30 points against Penn State in the Big Ten tournament Jimmer scored more than that on his own! I know Wisconsin beat Ohio State but it was in Wisconsin.
Number Five Seeds:
West Virginia: I always have to root for WVU since I grew up in the state. I have always liked Coach Huggins from his early coaching at Cincinnati. I think WVU isn’t as good a team as they were last year. There were some major off the court issues. First Huggins suspended Casey Mitchell indefinitely for violation of team rules, however he eventually was let back on the team and actually hit the game winning shot in their conference game against Louisville. Also against South Florida, Dan Jennings walked off the bench in the middle of the game and never returned.
Vanderbilt: Has a pretty good shooter in John Jenkins but I doubt they will go far in the tournament.
Arizona: I haven’t watched a lot of Pac 10 basketball this year, but I did watch the Pac 10 championship. Although Arizona lost to Washington on a game winning shot, I think they are a really good team. They are led by Derrick Williams.
Kansas State: Kansas State had a few rough patches during their season. Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly were suspended for several games for receiving impermissible benefits in connection with the purchase of clothing at a local department store. During their suspensions Kansas State did not play well. They were playing so bad that Pullen said that he wouldn’t play if they made the NIT tournament instead of the NCAA tournament. Luckily for Pullen, his team started playing well (beating Kansas, Missouri, and Texas). Kansas State is a team to look out for if Pullen is hitting big shots.
Upsets:
Oakland is 25-9 overall after having a huge non-conference schedule. Although they didn’t win a lot of those game they did beat Tennessee when Tennessee was ranked 7th in the country. Texas hasn’t been playing well down the stretch so this could be an upset.
Belmont is playing Wisconsin in the first round. Belmont is 30-4. Belmont has had some upsets in the past including a game against Duke in the tournament. Wisconsin hasn’t been playing well so watch out for this game.
Utah State is 30-3. The team was ranked in the top 25 teams in the country and some how only got a 12 seat. I think Utah State got screwed when it came to rankings. I mean they won 30 games this season and are a 12? I am not saying they should have been a 1 or a 2, but a 12 is really high. Utah State has to play Kansas State, which will be a difficult game but if Kansas State has difficulty shooting watch out for Utah State.
Injuries:
There are only a few injuries to watch out for during the tournament. One is DJ Kennedy for St. Johns. Kennedy tore his ACL in the Big East Tournament and will be out for the remainder of the season and 6-8 months afterwards. St. Johns had a wonderful season this year beating Georgetown, Notre Dame, Duke, UCONN, Pitt, and Villanova, but DJ Kennedy was a big part of those wins. Kennedy averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds a game. St. Johns is a good team, but I think without Kennedy they may not go far.
Chris Wright is another player to watch for. Wright broke a bone in his hand and has been out for a few weeks. Wright is Georgetown’s big scorer on the perimeter. He should be back for the tournament, but how good is he going to be with being out for a while and with bones in his hand broken?
Bubble Bursts:
This year the tournament was expanded from 64 teams to 68 teams. I thought this year would allow teams on the bubble not to get screwed apparently I was wrong. VCU and UAB made the tournament with no wins over top teams while teams like Colorado and Virginia Tech didn’t make the tournament. Colorado had wins over Kansas State three times, Missouri, and Texas but some how didn’t make the tournament. I am slightly confused how his happens. I thought big wins mattered. Then there is poor Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech and Malcolm Delaney have missed the tournament again. Virginia Tech beat Duke and Florida State and I really thought they were in this year. Sadly they were not.
Since I am a huge fan of the NCAA tournament, I am inviting everyone to join my online bracketology. If you want to join go to: http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/group/91952/invitation?key=3d96bcecf2942942
I am not doing the bracket for money, but more for bragging rights. So join if you want!

Oscar Night
Last night marked the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on ABC co-hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway. The show started out with a lot of potential with a take on the best films as seen through Inception. Unfortunately, the show went down hill after that. Franco and Hathaway joked about them being young and hip, but the award show was nothing young or hip. Ninety-four year old Kurt Douglas stole the show when he announced the award for best supporting actress. He joked about everyone laughing except Colin Firth since he is a brit. Another bright spot was when Billy Crystal returned do show visual effects with Bob Hope. Apparently the crowd wanted Crystal to stay longer because there was a chant “come back” sadly Crystal did not return and the show dragged on and on. Maybe he will host next year?
As I read the reviews online today, the same theme was present no one was impressed with Franco or Hathaway. I personally felt that Franco was the worst. He showed no energy throughout the show. Maybe he is too tired with all of his work – General Hospital, movies, and going to Yale? As for Hathaway, I sort of felt sorry for her. She tried and she did some things well. Yes, she may have been a little too chipper, but she had energy and maybe she was trying to energize Franco. We will never know. I do know that she changed outfits 7 times 8 if you count her outfit on the red carpet and she looked good in all of them. Bravo to those quick changes! Now for the winners – There was not a lot of shockers so I will just list them.

The biggest winner of the evening was The King’s Speech.
Now for the best part of the evening is the red carpet. Most of the stars looked really good. There were only a few that would make the worst dress list.
Natalie Portman wore a plum Rodarte gown, Tiffany & Co jewels, and jimmy choo shoes. Portman looked gorgeous in the plum and glowing from pregnancy. She looked great!
Halle Berry wore a nude crystal Marchesa gown. Her dress was so much better than her Golden Globes Dress. She looks stunning.
Nicole Kidman wore a white Dior gown. Nicole looked like a bad prom date wearing a gown that completely washed her out. She was one of the worst dress stars of the evening.
Anne Hathaway struck a pose in a red Valentino vintage gown. Hathaway looked gorgeous in this gown. She also wore Tiffany & Co jewels. It is being reported that she was paid $750,000 to wear the jewels. WOW!
Reese Witherspoon dressed in an elegant black and white Giorgio Armani dress. Although I liked the dress, Reese's hair was a little disturbing. She looked like a cross between a beauty queen and Barbie. I would have liked her hair to been pulled up off her neck and a gorgeous necklace. Instead she looks like she wants to tell us about world peace.
Sandra Bullock shined in a scarlet Vera Wang gown. After the year she has had Sandra looked gorgeous. She also was a highlight in the awards show joking about the nominees for Best Actor.
Poor Scarlett Johansson. Although she looks better than she did as the Bride of Frankenstein for the Golden Globes she still missed the mark. The newly single Johannsson wore a Dolce & Gabbana magenta lace gown. I was hoping for something more from her. She has a smoking body (even more so after Iron Man 2) but she has been really missing the mark at the awards shows.
New comer, Jennifer Lawrence, was a show stopper in the red Calvin Klein dress. Her hair and make up looked amazing! Bravo!!
My best dressed star for the evening (and for the whole awards show season) goes to Mila Kunis. The Black Swan star wore a lavender Elie Saab gown.
The always waky, Helena Bonham Carter, wore a black bustier ensemble created by “Alice in Wonderland” costume designer Colleen Atwood. This outfit was a little conservative compared to Helena's previous award show dresses. I was hoping for a big surprise this time so I feel a little let down.
The 14 year old, Hailee Steinfeld, was my other best dressed star. Steinfeld wore a Marchesa design that she helped design!!
For me the worst dress star of the evening was Academy Award winning, Melissa Leo. Leo who used the f-word during her speech wore a Marc Bouwer creation. The dress looked like a reflective table cloth.
Well that's my recap for the Oscars from the best to the worst.

Reflections
Today I decided to reflect on something other than my pursuit of finding the right career. Today I'm going to write about friendship. When I think about friends I always think about the song I sang at 4-H - "Make New Friends". The lyrics are: Make new friends but keep the old one is silver and the others gold.
As I've grown up I have met a lot of people whether through 4-H, high school, speech, college, and law school but I only have a few really close friends. As I've grown older I have grown apart from some people and maybe that's the way life is or maybe I'm just not good at keeping in touch, I'm not sure. But there are a few people that even if I haven't spoken to them in months I can pick right up with them like nothing has changed. These friends I appreciate more than I tell them.
I think as life changes your best friends do too. Now that I'm married my best friend is my husband. He can tell even when I'm a little upset that something is wrong. I tell him everything even if it may hurt his feelings he knows my darkest secrets. It is wonderful to feel that way with someone and I feel truly blessed but there are times when I miss my other friends.
I have tried not to use names while blogging but I think it's appropriate today. Because I want to thank my close friends. If you are not mentioned it's not because you are not important to me it's just I have left you out.
My mom - I never thought I would be as close to my mom as I am today. We talk every day or almost every day. She makes me laugh when I need it and I try to do the same. She also gives me criticism and advice to help guide me. I appreciate everything she does for me. I miss her like crazy. I never knew how much I missed her until she was here after my surgery. I'm thankful to be so close to my mom. It makes me sad that some people do not have the relationship like I have. Along the same lines as my mom I have to thank my Aunt Debbie. She is one of the most thoughtful people I know. When I'm going through something she always sends me a card to brighten my day and lately I've tried to do the same for her.
Aimee and I have known each other since we were tiny playing t-ball. We have had so many great memories through 4-H and school. Although we don't talk all the time when we do it's like nothing has changed. I know that if I ever needed anything she would be there for me no matter what. I think she is probably my gold from the song. I am so thankful for her and hope that I can some day be as sweet and caring as she is.
I still remember the first time I met Amanda it was at cheerleading camp (yes I was a cheerleader for one year). Amanda and I got off to a rocky start. She didn't like me because I won the spirit stick at the camp had I known she wanted it I would have gave it to her. But we became close friends through speech. It turns out she and I had a lot more in common. We had the same since of humor and a love for fashion. Over the years we didn't talk all the time but we still kept in touch. Amanda is the friend who gives me the advice even if it's not what I want to hear. She can be brutally honest but in a good way. I promise to try to be better with keeping in touch and visit soon!
Shoafie is the friend that whenever I need to laugh that's who I call. She can always tell me stories to make me feel better. She's another person I can go a while without talking to and know that it doesn't matter. I'm so happy that I spent a year living with her and getting to know her family. I feel like they are as open and friendly as my own and would help me in any way they could. She is one of the happiest persons I know and hope some day I can be as optimistic as she is.
Luyen and I met our sophomore year of college. We lived together our senior year and have even been asked if we are sisters which is hilarious since she is Asian and we look nothing alike. She knew all of my secrets for years and I knew hers. Over the past year or so we have started to grow apart. I am not sure if it's because we are in different cities or if it's because we are both in serious relationships. Maybe we have both replaced each other? I'm not sure. I do know that I miss her. I miss staying up late talking, I miss our two to three times a week emails. I just miss it. I woke up this morning really sad because I think it finally hit me that we had really grown apart. I guess that's how you feel when you've lost your best friend. I'm not sure if she and I can ever go back to how it was in Miami times have really changed, but I want my best friend back.
To my other 4-H friends -Heidi, Emily, Teb, Curtis, and Cara - I'm sorry that I have been so terrible with keeping in touch. I am going to try to do better. I miss each of you in your own special ways. Heidi I miss all of our times at the fair and our "ring men", lol. Emily and Teb I miss our late nights at 4-H camp and the games we would play. Curtis and Cara where do I start! I miss making fun of Grand Champion and the hilarious beach trip.
To my college friends - Jess and Bridget I miss you both. Jess I'll see you soon and hopefully do a better job keeping in touch. Bridget I will be in St. Louis in March. I'd love to see you!
Lastly the law school crew - Laura, Kel Kel, Catherine, Jav, Whitney, Jordan, Shawn B, and Sean L - I miss you all! I'll try to be better with keeping in touch. Understand that I'm bad about calling but I'll try to be better with emailing or something!!
Finally, I must say how thankful I am for Jeff. He really is what gets me through the day. He is so good to me and I know I'm a better person because of him. I never thought I'd be married but now I don't know what I'd do without him.
As I have reflected I remember another 4-H song - friends I will remember you, think of you, and pray for you and when another day is through I'll still be friends with you.

Image Consultant
Well, I have sort of made a career decision. YAY! I am not sure the job will be successful and I'm doubtful I will make money the first year but I am going to give it a shot. I have decided I am going to open an Image Consulting business. Basically, Image Consultants help people achieve what they want - a new job, make a good impression, or feel good about themselves. Most consultants offer – image analysis, makeover consulting, fashion styling, wardrobe consulting, makeup analysis, personal shopping, help with vocal communications, non-verbal communications, and etiquette. As of right now I am leaning towards providing wardrobe consulting and etiquette. With wardrobe consulting I will help with picking out outfits that fit a person’s size and body type as well as the right color scheme. I can help go through the client’s closet and help keep what works and then get rid of what doesn’t. After that the personal shopping comes into play, I can either go to the store and help the client shop or I can go pick up items for the client. With the etiquette services, I will help clients with job interviewing skills, interview luncheons/dinners, work luncheons/dinners, or even dates. I am really excited to get everything set up.
This week I am going to work on a business plan and then setting up my limited liability company. I have narrowed down a few names. I am not 100% sure which names I like best. Right now I have, First Look Image Consultants, LLC (the name is available in Florida but there is a First Looks Image website – so it may be out), Ideal Image Consulting, LLC (also available in Florida and no website), Right Look Consultants, LLC, Right Image Consultants, LLC, or Style Chic, LLC. Any thoughts on the names would be really helpful!
After selecting the name then I have to register the LLC, open a bank account, form a website, and then buy the tools necessary for the job. Most of the tools aren’t too problematic so I will be on my way. But before I start taking clients I am going to take volunteers to let me try my skills on them. So if you want free style advice definitely contact me. I am hoping to even get a few testimonials for the website. You won’t have to spend a penny – I’ll just tell you what works and doesn’t work and you don’t have to take the advice and you don’t have to buy any more clothes. I just need practice! Well I better get back to work!

Super Bowl Recap
I have always been the girl that watches the Super Bowl. I watch the Super Bowl not for the actual football game, but for the commercials. However, this year was different. I was actually looking forward to the Super Bowl for the game. I have been rooting for the Greenbay Packers ever since Farve retired and then returned and then retired and then returned and so on and so forth. I felt that Aaron Rodgers always got the short end of the stick being compared to Brett Farve. I understand Farve had ridiculous numbers and a great career, but I also feel his drama over retiring not to mention the text messages really put a damper on his career. Let’s not forget he only won one ring his entire career so I wanted Aaron Rodgers to get a ring and put all of the Farve drama behind him. So for once I was really excited about the Super Bowl. It also helped that the Packers were playing the Steelers. In the past I had no issue with the Steelers but after this summer and Big Ben’s behavior I was finished with them. He is one of my least favorite people in the pro sports community. He is right up there with Tiger Woods and A-Rod. I dislike them all so much.
Anyway, the game was actually really exciting and the Packers won 31-25! Yay! The game came down to the last drive of the game so it made it very entertaining and Rodgers won the Super Bowl MVP (something Farve never did). So hopefully Rodgers can come out of the shadows of Farve and Farve stays retired once and for all. But I am sure come summer Rachel Nichols from ESPN will be camped out in front of his house waiting to see if he is coming back…lets up he doesn’t.
Although I have discussed the outcome of the game, I have to talk about the pregame, halftime as well as the commercials, because lets be honest 99% of people watch the game for the commercials.
The pregame started with Lea Michele of Glee singing America the Beautiful. She did an amazing job. She sounded great. My only issue with Lea is that she wore a coat that looked a little too big for her. She is a tiny tiny girl and the coat made her look like she was drowning. But again she was great. Good job Lea! Then Christina Aguilera sang the Star Spangled Banner. Let’s just say WOW! What a mess up!! First Xtina looked terrible. Her platinum blond hair was a mess and her outfit looked matronly but not in a good way. Then she started singing. Well her rendition was typical Xtina with her belting every note making the song longer than it was supposed to be, but then the real problem happened. Although Xtina has been singing the anthem since she was 7 (her words not mine) she forgot the lyrics to the song. She sang, "What so proudly we watched at the twilights last gleaming” instead of "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?" As she was singing my husband and I looked at each other and said did she really mess this up? I thought no she couldn’t have but the more I thought about it the more I knew she did. Holy Crap! I know some people are taking up for her saying at least she sang live, but come on really she MESSED UP THE WORDS TO OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM! I felt disgraced by this. What made her singing even more classic was the look on some of the players and coaches’ faces when it happened -most looked really confused. Within seconds of her mess up the internet erupted with reports of the mistake. It looks like Xtina is making history, but not in a good way. After her last album failed, Burlesque failed, and now this maybe Xtina should give it up for a little while and get her life back together. But maybe she thought these were the right lyrics since Wikipedia has the words she sang as the correct lyrics to the song. Oh boy!
As for the halftime show, a lot of people were upset with the BEP. I personally didn’t hate the show. Yes, their vocals and microphone issues were bad. But I thought the special effects were amazing. I liked the lights on the dancers, the box heads, the different way the stage moved, and I liked the surprises. Who would have thought Slash would be playing with Fergie and who knew Usher was going to drop from the ceiling? Last year The Who played and their vocals were TERRIBLE and they were boring old men who didn’t move across the stage. Although BEP didn’t sound great I was entertained and isn’t that what a halftime show is suppose to do?
Some of the commercials this year were mediocre but I thought there were a few standouts. My personal favorite was the Audi Luxury car commercial. The commercial started with people of luxury locked in cages in an extravagant home and two guys trying to escape luxury. I thought the commercial was really clever. If you missed it here’s a link to the commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKeKj0Lckzk
My next favorite was the Chrysler Eminem Imported from Detroit commercial. Although this commercial was not funny it was shot amazingly and was just a really cool commercial. Check it out for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKL254Y_jtc
Snickers was also pretty good since Roseanne Barr got smacked with a log when she needed a snickers.
However, I think some businesses missed the mark on their commercials this year. I felt like Bud Light and Budwiser missed the mark. Bud Light has the extreme home makeover commercial where nothing changed but they added Bud Light and they also had the dog watcher where the dogs could do anything including wait on people and wash dishes. Although they were both cute I didn’t think they were worth the money. I am use to Budwiser showing the horses they are known for their horses, but what do they do. They show them at the beginning of the commercial and then have a mean cowboy break into Tiny Dancer once he gets his Budwiser. I just wasn’t pleased with these commercials.
I thought Doritos did a fairly good job. The pug dog jumping through the door to get the Doritos was cute and Doritos bringing everything back to life including the guys Grandpa was great. But Doritos then creeped me out when the guy sucked on the other guy’s fingers. It made me not want to eat the chips.
The E Trade Commercials were also not a good as last year. Personally I don’t think anything will top Lindsey the Milkawhat baby, but that’s my opinion.
Although the final commercial using the Glee cast did not show until Glee started the commercial was great. It was super over the top and Sue was her evil self, but what made the commercial was when they decided not to do the commercial so they wouldn’t lose their amateur status and Brittany says “I was gonna donate my Chevy Cruz to Charity. Charity’s my cat, she totaled my SUV last weekend.”
All and all I thought the Super Bowl was successful. My team won, Lea Michele did a great job, there were some good commercials, and most importantly Glee returned!

A Few More Options
So I am gradually telling my family about my decision not to become an attorney luckily everyone has been supportive so far. My mom and I discussed how I should have changed my major to marketing/advertising like I discussed my sophomore year of college. Unfortunately, when I told my dad this decision he flipped out like he always does, but that’s beside the point now. And if I had changed my major I likely wouldn’t have met Jeff so I guess things happen for a reason. I am not sure why I had to rack up a TON of student loans to find Jeff, but he is worth it.
Anyway, my mom gave me a few new suggestions on job choices that she thought I would be good at and enjoy. She suggested doing ad work, becoming a travel agent, pharmaceutical sales rep, and a personal shopper.
I’ve always loved commercials and advertising. I think I am probably one of the only people in the world that really watch commercials. I love their humor and I love little ways that they promote the product. For instance the new Sprint commercials the ones that send texts, emails, phone calls to breakup or say that the family’s home is Ho-Ho-rendus if you notice the person making the calls is in black and yellow (the colors of Sprint). I just think that is a really clever marketing tool. I am not sure I can start working in advertising since I don’t have that degree. Maybe since I have a business degree it could work? So I am going to look for jobs in the advertising field as another option. If anyone has any details on this type of job that doesn’t require a marketing degree, please let me know!
Becoming a travel agent would also be fun. I love planning trips and vacations. Plus if I worked for an agency I would get the perk of discounted travel. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Yes, it wouldn’t make a ton of money, but honestly that’s not the point. I want to find a job I LOVE! So I did some research in becoming a travel agent. I figured I could probably just apply for jobs and in my cover letter specify that I love to travel and help people created memories of a lifetime or something cheesy like that. But when I looked at job postings all the jobs required a travel agent certification. WHAT? Who know that you needed one of these? To gain the certificate it is not a huge deal; you take some classes and an exam. But before I sign up for classes I feel like I need to be 100% sure this is what I want to do.
I had thought about a pharmaceutical sales rep around Christmas time when discussing jobs with my brother. I believe I have that personality to get along with the doctors and lets face it. I have had so many illnesses in my life that I could definitely talk about the benefits of the product. My only concern is that the job postings that I have seen required at least 2 years of sales experience. How am I supposed to get this experience if no postings are for entry-level representatives?
The last option is a personal shopper. As most people know I love shopping. I love shoes, I love handbags, and I love everything there is about shopping. I also love watching shows that help give makeovers. I think I could be on What Not to Wear. Obviously not has one of the bad dressers but as someone who helps make someone over styling them, selecting clothes that fit well, etc. I have done this task with my family by giving my dad stylish sweaters for Christmas instead of his usual ugly t-shirts and button up shirts (unfortunately for him he never wore them). I also changed my brother’s look when he decided he was finished with his “cowboy” look. I picked out dark jeans, button up shirts, and sweaters this transformed him and he follows my style advice some still today. I also have picked out date outfits for my aunt and always try to make my mom dress better. So I actually think I have what it takes to be a personal shopper. So I did some online research and looked at stores online trying to find personal shopper jobs. There doesn’t really appear to be many options in Jacksonville. So I started looking to see what it would take to become a personal shopper. That’s when I discovered an article about starting a business as a personal shopper. Obviously the article talked about how to become a personal shopper, but more importantly, the article talked about applying shopping skills to an image consultant business. An image consultant can give advice on fashion, an overall wardrobe, vocal communication, non-vocal communications, and etiquette. When I read the article and other articles regarding image consulting. I became excited. The most excited I have been in a long time. I feel like this is a job where I can put my fashion skills to work, but also the skills of interviewing and personal interaction. I’m in love with the idea of this job. I am not sure if it will actually work out because there is a lot that I need to look into, but I am going to buy some sort of how to book on image consulting and go from there.
I am still not ruling out my other job choices just yet, but for once I am feeling excited about something again.

Screen Actors Guild Award
Well this is my first stab at being a celebrity blogger/gossiper describing the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG). I have never watched the SAGS and thought this could be my trial run before the Academy Awards.
My favorite part of an awards show is FASHION. I love seeing what everyone wears and dream that some day that I might have a gown like that to wear to a special occasion. So I feel that part of this post should be dedicated to the fashion.
Fashion:
So I am watching Live from the Red Carpet on E! for the SAG awards to get the best and worst of fashion.
Giuliana Rancic is wearing a white gown by Emma Sebel that is not so fabulous. She looks a bit heavy which she NEVER is! To be the gown is a no no. It is kind of Grecian and flowy. The best part of the outfit was her shoes (Jimmy Choo) but you can’t see the shoes so I am not sure she is a hit.
OMG! Hailee Steinfeld is wearing a HORRIBLE prada dress. It is a striped dress that is orange, pink, and black. I know that she is 15 but she looks like she is out for a Halloween party. It is not attractive maybe she can save it and wear it trick-or-treating.
Chord Overstreet from Glee is in a classic Armani black tux with a black tie. He looks pretty good, although his hair is sort of Justin Bieber, which I am not a fan of. I love Glee but I don’t love him like I love the original cast. I guess I need to get use to the new cast sine eventually there will be no more Rachel Berry and Fin Hudson, etc.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family is in a Black Tux but has a red and black tie. It sort of matches his red hair so its strange, but he is funny so I’ll let him go with it.
Jesse Eisenberg is in a black Dolce & Gabana tux. All of the guys look the same so I am not too excited about discussing their fashion. I wish E! would talk to the ladies!!
Sarah Hyland from Modern Family looks very cute in a red dress. I have no details on the dress because Giuliana is discussing her bf and how they met, etc. The interview was tot awkward.
Julianna Margulies is wearing long red ground that is beautiful. Her hair however is pretty plain in a ponytail with very little curl. I have never watched The Good Wife, but I did like her in ER when she dated the young George Clooney.
Chris Coffer aka KURT! I absolutely love him!!! I hope he wins tonight. His speech for the Golden Gloves was great! He is wearing a black Dior tux.
Jane Krakowski from 30 Rock is looking like she is going to pop! She looks very lovely.
LL Cool J from NCIS Las Angeles is in Giorgio Armani all back plus a black hat.
Krya Sedgwick looks amazing in a black dress. The dress has a heart shape neckline. I absolutely love her and even though Kevin Bacon really freaks me out. I feel like I have to like him since he is married to her.
Angie Harmon is in a pink dress that makes her look like a pink ostrich. She has FEATHERS everywhere!!!! I think she will be making a worst dress list but that’s me.
Jenna Ushkowitz from Glee is in a tan/beige dress. It looks a little too snug for her, has wrinkles, and really washes her out. I love Tina I mean Jenna but do not love that dress.
Mila Kunis from Black Swan is in a red strapless gown that is Alexandra McQueen. I like the dress. She looks very pretty. I wonder how she is taking the Macaulay Culkin break up especially if he is really dating a Spanish porn star.
Jennifer Lawrence from Winter Bones is in an oscar de la renta hot pink dress with a black belt. The belt looks like it cuts her off a bit. The top of the gown is very different, but beautiful.
Diana Agron from Glee is in a Channel black lace gown. It is a shorter hemline dress but she looks beautiful.
Tracy Morgan is on the red carpet. He looks really good after having his kidney transplant. I am impressed that he is on the red carpet. He just did a shout out to Sarah Palin. He said that she was the hottest MILF in the World. I am kind of confused by the shout out!
Julie Bowen from Modern Family is in a black pants suit. It looks a little strange/different for the red carpet. I like the risk, but have a feeling most people will say she is not dressed appropriately.
Naya Rivera from Glee is wearing a gold dress. It is quite plunging in the chest region. But she looks good.
Sofia Vergara from Modern Family is in a gorgeous blue dress. She is super fit and super hot! Its plunging in the chest line but she looks good. She is discussing how she would love to walk around w/o a bra but can’t. I thought that was definitely a little much TMI!
Jayma Mays from Glee is in a coral dress. It looks better from Golden Globes outfit, but still not very good. She needs some help in the fashion department.
Leah Michelle aka Rachel Berry looks like her boob is going to pop out. I think we are going to have a Janet Jackson moment!! AHH!
Jane Lynch is in a fancy dress. It is purple and not very flattering. I love her! I think at some point she should wear the tracksuit to an award show!
Woah! Eva Longoria is in a very revealing dress! Her hair and make up looked very nice.
January Jones from Mad Men is in a lace black and gold dress. It is definitely different from her Golden Globes look. It is definitely less revealing, but I am on the fence with this dress.
Claire Danes the new voice for latisse is in a Louis Vuitton Dress. It is an interesting dress. I really like it! I have a feeling most people will not like the dress but I like it. It is green with blacks and also has a black belt.
Natalie Portman from Black Swan is wearing a white gown with some sparkling around the top of the gown. She is also wearing 2 million dollar tiffany jewelry. She is looking very preg. I think she looks pretty good tonight. I like this dress better than the golden globe red flower dress.
Hilary Swank from Conviction has her hair down and looks a little less manly. She is in a beige Versace gown. She looks really pretty. Normally I find her to be pretty homely, but I’d say for once she looks good.
Jon Hamm from Mad Men (also a graduate from Mizzou) looks very daper. He’s pretty handsome. I haven’t watched Mad Men yet but its on my Netflix list so hopefully I can start watching it after we finish Dexter!
Nicole Kidman is in a black Nina Ricci gown that has black lace and a bow on her butt. It is not pretty. I give her an F for Faith her new child! I do commend her for the new baby but the dress is hideous!
Christian Bale cut his hair! YAY!!! I still remember him from Little Women. I loved him as Teddy. For years I wanted to name my child (if I ever had one) Theodore, but my mother said he would get beat up!
Amy Adams from The Fighter is in a white gown with fringe down the front. She does not look very good. I am pretty disappointed. I generally like her dresses but tonight was a mishap.
Julia Stiles from Dexter (the season I have not watched yet) is in a navy and white dress. She looks pretty much I don’t really like the bottom of the dress. Had I not seen the white I would have said good job, but now not so much. I still wonder if she was the reason why Michael C. Hall’s marriage broke up. She denies the rumors but we shall see. I must say that the set for Dexter has to be really awkward! I hope it doesn’t affect the show because right now I am obsessed with Dexter. We are starting season 3 next week.
Christina Hendricks from Mad Men is in a dress that looks like a robe. She called it a smoking jacket. Not attractive. I like that she plays up the curves but I am not enjoying the dress.
Helena Bonham Carter’s outfit is a little less wild tonight. It’s a white and lacey dress, but she appears to have a cape. She is a crazy lady, but I like that she embraces her craziness. Seeing her also makes me so excited for the last Harry Potter! Yay!
Kim Kardashian is on the red carpet. I am not 100% why she is on the red carpet. She doesn’t act. So why did she get invited. I like her dress other than the bedazzle around the boobs (it looks like my prom dress circa 2001). I think her make up looks a little bland. I’m still just really confused as to why she was on the red carpet.
I think next time (if I decide to do this) I will try to include photos of the dresses so you can decide for yourself on the looks.
The Awards Show:
The opening is doing monologues from certain stars. Its actually rather cute. Betty White and Alec Baldwin are presenting the first awards. Betty looks great she also joked that Alec was old, classic. The first award Actors is Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor in a Drama Series and the nominees are:
Steve Buscemi – Boardwalk Empire
Bryan Cranston – Breaking Bad
Michael C. Hall – Dexter
Jon Hamm – Mad Men
Hugh Laurie – House
Winner: Steve Buscemi from Boardwalk Empire.
He won the Golden Globe for his role so I am not surprised. I have not seen Boardwalk Empire but I am told I should watch it. Steve Buscemi has always given me the creeps maybe because he was a serial killer in Con Air? I like this award so far because they don’t cut off your speeches
Annette Bening and Mark Ruffalo are describing The Kids are All Right. Annette looks wonderful. Her dress is gorgeous!
Eva Longoria and Cory Monteith (aka Finn Hudson) are announcing the award for Outstanding Performance By a Female in a Drama Series and the nominees are:
Glenn Close – Damages
Mariska Hargitay – Law & Order: SVU
Julianna Margulies – The Good Wife
Elizabeth Moss – Mad Men
Kyra Sedgwick – The Closer
I think Finn I mean Cory was thrilled that he was announcing with Eva. She’s been going after young guys lately (since her separation) so maybe Finn will get lucky?
Winner: Julianna Margulies from The Good Wife. She seems shocked that she won this award. She is really emotional. Aww she gave a super sweet shout out to her husband by thanking her in-laws for giving her the most amazing man. Very sweet. Hilary Swank even mouthed that she was so sweet.
Sofia Vergara and Taye Diggs are describing the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and the nominees are:
Boardwalk Empire
The Closer
Dexter
The Good Wife
Mad Men
Taye and Sofia both look very sexy.
Winner: The Cast of Boardwalk Empire. Mark Walberg also produced the show, he seemed like he wanted to go on the stage, but stayed on the sidelines.
Ken Howard, President of the SAG, is welcoming everyone to the show and congratulated all of the nominees. It’s a bit boring for me, but I know it is necessary.
The guy from The Unit and the Allstate Commercials is describing broadcast advertising and commending the actors of advertising. I was a really fun segment showing present commercials and commercials from the past.
Jason Bateman is describing Outstanding Performance By a Female Actor in a Supporting Role and the nominees are:
Amy Adams – The Fighter
Helena Bonham Carter – The King’s Speech
Mila Kunis – Black Swan
Melissa Leo – The Fighter
Hailee Steinfeld – True Grit
Winner: Melissa Leo for The Fighter. She won the Golden Globe for this performance so again not really surprised. She also almost fell as she was going on the stage. She seems completely shocked and so completely grateful that she won. She got a little political regarding the actors unions coming together.
Amy Poehler is giving the award for Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and the nominees are:
Alec Baldwin – 30 Rock
Ty Burrell – Modern Family
Steve Carell – The Office
Chris Colfer – Glee
Ed O’Neil – Modern Family
I personally hope Kurt (Chris Colfer) wins because I love him!
Winner: Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock. He has been nominated 14 times (holy cow!) he has won 5 years in a row for 30 Rock. I think it is time for someone else to win, but he is a pretty funny guy.
Jon Hamm is presenting the award for Outstanding Performance By a Female Actor in a Comedy Series:
Edie Falco – Nurse Jackie
Tina Fey – 30 Rock
Jane Lynch – Glee
Sofia Vergara – Modern Family
Betty White – Hot in Cleveland
He joked that they picked him to announce this since he was the funniest female artist.
Winner: Betty White for Hot in Cleveland. I really want to start watching this show because it looks hilarious. She looks shocked and is getting an escort to the stage. She also received a standing ovation, which I think if fitting since she is AMAZING! She looks great. If I live to be as old as she is I hope I am nearly as funny as she is and look half as good as she does!! She said it was the biggest surprise over her career to win! She groped her statute for the award because it is a naked man! LOL!!! Too funny
Helena Bonham Carter, Colin Ferth, and Geoffrey Rush are describing The King’s Speech. The movie looks really entertaining. I think I need to see the movie.
Angie Harmon and LL Cool J are announcing the next award. I still can’t get over Angie’s outfit she seriously looks like a pink ostrich/feather duster. They are announcing the Outstanding Performance By an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and the nominees are:
30 Rock
Glee
Hot in Cleveland
Modern Family
The Office
I’m a total Gleek so I am rooting for Glee obviously.
Winner: The Cast of Modern Family. I have never watched the show. I am adding it to Netflix though because I really want to see it.
Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman are describing Black Swan. Both ladies look beautiful. I think Mila is possibly the best dress of the night. As for Natalie she looks really good and I love those $2 million dollar earrings.
Tim Conway is now on the stage. He looks like he is going to be funny, but at the same time a bit annoying. He is giving the lifetime achievement award to Ernest Borgine. Tim tried to make a joke about Red but it didn’t go over well. Tim’s jokes are not working well for the crowd or me. The dedication to Ernest is really interesting because it gives a look at his life and his the films he did. I feel bad because I do not know anything about Ernest. I think I have seen a few of these movies/shows but I don’t remember him.
Morgan Freeman is now on the stage giving Ernest the Lifetime Achievement award. It appears that Morgan has an earring. It looks a little weird.
Ernest looks extremely happy to receive this. I always get a little sad by these lifetime achievement awards I think I’m a little too sentimental.
Ernest speech is very moving and very inspiring to all the actors. Very sweet.
Robin Wright and Jeremy Renner are announcing the award for Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries and the nominees are:
John Goodman – You Don’t Know Jack
Al Pacino – You Don’t Know Jack
Dennis Quad – The Special Relationship
Edgar Ramirez – Carlos
Patrick Stewart – Macbeth (Great Performances)
Winner: Al Pacino for You Don’t Know Jack. I thought he would be the winner. He was not there for the award. So no ramblings like at the Golden Globes.
The cast of The Social Network (including JT) describe The Social Network. I have not seen this movie either. Personally, I am not really interested in it. I love facebook but don’t need a movie about it.
Rosario Dawson and Josh Duhamel are now on stage. Rosario looks really good. I like her pale yellow gown. They are announcing the award for Outstanding Performance By a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries and the nominees are:
Claire Danes – Temple Grandin
Catherine O’Hara – Temple Grandin
Julia Ormond – Temple Grandin
Winona Ryder – When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story
Susan Sarandon - You Don’t Know Jack
Ugh Susan Sarandon is with her very young boyfriend. I am a little disgusted by her relationship. Seriously, she could be this guys MOM!
Winner: Claire Danes for Temple Grandin. Claire Danes looks beautiful. She won the Golden Globe for this category so I am not really surprised. It looks like the role was really difficult. Bravo! On a different note, her eyelashes look really long. Good job lattisse.
Hillary Swank definitely looks better than she has in the past, although her arms kind of scare me. She is doing the memorial piece on those who have past away this year. This part always upsets me too. We lost a lot of good actors this year.
Now Susan Sarandon is on the stage. She looks really good, but I’m still rather disturbed by her young young bf. She is announcing the award for Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor in a Supporting Role and the nominees are:
Christian Bale – The Fighter
John Hawkes – Winter’s Bone
Jeremy Renner – The Town
Mark Ruffalo – The Kids Are All Right
Geoffrey Rush – The King’s Speech
I’m pretty sure Christian Bale is going to win this.
Winner: Christian Bale for The Fighter. I need to see The Fighter as well. I have been really bad with these movies. Maybe I can do matinees before the Academy Awards. I am really glad that he cut his hair now if only this beard can go away.
Amy Adams and Mark Wahlberg are announcing The Fighter.
Jeff Bridges is now on stage. I am glad to see he is nominated this evening and nominated for the Academy Awards since he was left out for the Golden Globes. He is announcing the award for Outstanding Performance By a Female Actor in a Leading Role and the nominees are:
Annette Bening - The Kinds Are All right
Nicole Kidman – Rabbit Hole
Jennifer Lawrence – Winter’s Bone
Natalie Portman – Black Swan
Hilary Swank – Conviction
We all know Natalie is going to win. This is apparently her year.
Winner: Natalie Portman for Black Swan. Shocking…NOT! Her speech this time was much better than last. I am really glad that she didn’t thank her parents and her fiancĂ© for keeping the line of children going…
Nicole Kidman’s dress is sooooo bizarre tonight. She is giving the award for Outstanding Performance By a Male Actor in a Leading Role and the nominees are:
Jeff Bridges – True Grit
Robert Duvall – Get Low
Jesse Eisenberg – The Social Network
Colin Firth – The King’s Speech
James Franco – 127 Hours
I think Colin Firth will win this, but Jeff Bridges was not nominated for a Golden Globe so I could be wrong.
Winner: Colin Firth for The King’s Speech. James Franco looked really pissed that he was not the winner. Colin is joking that his SAG card would get him female attention (pretty funny). I still remember him in Bridget Jones Diary. He definitely has come far from there (even though I love me some BJD).
Donald Sutherland is giving the awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and the nominees are:
Black Swan
The Fighter
The Kids Are All Right
The King’s Speech
The Social Network
I have a feeling The Social Network is going to win.
Winner: The King’s Speech. I am shocked but so happy. I am glad this movie won over a movie about Facebook. Like I said before, I love me some facebook, but I wanted a different sort of movie and I think The King’s Speech does just that. I have decided I am definitely going to see this movie probably this week.
This concludes the SAG. I think I have a few things to work on regarding award show blogging but for my first one ever I know I can get better!

A Step in the Right Direction
Last night my husband and I discussed the types of jobs I thought I might like doing. Personally I think I'd like to be a celebrity blogger sort of like Perez Hilton, but I don't think I could really make a living doing that sort of job. However, if anyone has suggestions how to become the next Perez Hilton please let me know! I do plan on writing some celebrity blogs in the future (my first will be this weekend as a recap to the Screen Actors Guild Awards).
So what should my career be? What do I like? Well I like baking, photography, and college basketball. But I don't think I can become a baker or a photographer professionally. I do make a mean chocolate chip cookie but I don't think it is enough to make money. As for college basketball, I played basketball in high school and was TERRIBLE. I think when I decided not to play my senior year of high school my coach was actually glad because he didn't have to deal with me. Secondly, I really don't enjoy woman's college basketball. I know UCONN women are amazing and all and think they could probably beat some men's college basketball teams, but its just not for me. So unless I can grow one I think college basketball is out. So what do I think I'd like to do, what would make me happy? I have a few thoughts and plan on exploring these.
The first thought is a real estate agent. I can make decent money doing this and actually think I'd be good at it. I found our house prior to our real estate agent finding it by looking at the MLS listings, craigslist, and zillow. I am also familiar with real estate law because of undergrad (I took a real estate law class and two real estate finance classes), law school, and my work with my old firm. So I think it is definitely an option. I took a step in learning more about becoming a real estate agent by researching the info online as well as sending our old realtor an email with the pros and cons of the profession. Hopefully she gives me some insight and I’ll go from there.
The second option is a career counselor at a college or even good ol’ flo co. It seems odd that I think I would be a good career counselor when I can’t figure out what I want as my own career but I am good at drafting resumes, cover letters, and interviews. I actually love interviews. Maybe I can be a professional interviewer?? I guess that’s probably out as well.
I always have my accounting degree that I could fall back on but ugh. I never wanted to be an accountant because it was my back up plan if I didn’t go to law school, but since I don’t want to be an attorney now maybe I should consider it . . .
I know I need to find a job to deal with my loans, but for now I am enjoying my time exploring. I am thankful that I have a husband that just wants me to be happy and that I have the opportunity to explore my options.
So for now I will do some celebrity gossiping and likely become a real estate agent.

A New Day
For the past few weeks I have had a lot of stress. Stress that I was not sure how to fix. Stress that kept building up and finally today I lost it. I had stress over all the what ifs in life and what I plan on doing with myself - What if I didn't pass the bar exam, what if I can't find a job, what if I didn't want to be an attorney and what would I do now . . . WHAT IF, WHAT IF, WHAT If!
Thankfully, I have the most amazing best friend in the world, my husband, and this morning he sat down with me and talked me through everything. He told me that I could do whatever I wanted and that no matter what we would get by. He told me that I should postpone the bar exam (if that’s what I wanted to do) and that if I never wanted to take it that was fine by him. He told me to find what would make me happy and if that took a while not to worry about it. He suggested I read on the beach, blog about fashion, or just do nothing! Talking to Jeff made the stress melt away.
So I have decided to postpone the bar exam. I may take it in July or I may never take it. I know some people will say what a waste of my degree. But I know that I can’t be miserable and right now practicing law made me miserable. I want a job that I wake up feeling excited about going to. I’m not sure what that job may be, but I plan on exploring it. Based upon my husband’s advice, I am going to blog my journey on finding what I want to do in life. I am not sure what the future holds or what I will decide to do but I hope my blog is entertaining.
